Driving in the U.S. is surprisingly entertaining and informative

Earlier, enthousiast one air travel, I have never considered in the United States, driving up infortunate an incident forced my ex-fiance and I have to change our travel plans. We had flown to Las Vegas to attend a business convention late at night. The next morning I turned on the television, only to find that planes flown into the World Trade Center in New York was. It was 9 / 11, the devastated us and all around us. At Caesar's Palace, all the television sets, tuned the tragedy, instead of the usual horse races or other sporting events. It was a pin drop hear how everyone watched the tragedy unfold on live. The convention closed early because of the terrible tragedy. We were there t-shirts as we left the convention center, in memory of the people in New York and Pennsylvania killed. Fortunately for us, my ex to deal with already rented a van, a car sold out quickly, when all planes were grounded. In Las Vegas, the airport is limited in the middle of town, very close to the Strip. With all the aircraft down was all that we saw a military occaisional fighter jets circling the city now and then. It was eerily reminiscent of the possible danger to the region. We left and drove to Los Angeles.

raised in Los Angeles, our minds when we visited the coast, stopping at beautiful places like Balboa to lunch, Laguna Beach (full of interesting shops and restaurants) and Dana Point, where we stayed in a nice hotel by the sea. Later we went over to Burbank, and attends the second recording of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Experience was surreal, no one felt like comedy, the show was subdued. Jay of a motorcycle, he will be selling for a good cause was on wheels, and Arnold Schwartzenegger, Tom Cruise and others came to sign it. When the studio was fascinating, the temperature in the large room was cold to keep the many hot stage lights by bursting, said one of the producers to us. We had front row seats because we got in line early. If you go, make sure to go much earlier than the doctor because it amount of time needed to park and the line to get in is very long.

After leaving downtown LA, we drove to Beverly Hills and Hollywood. I liked Beverly Hills, see the beautiful houses was my favorite. Signs were posted everywhere saying that forest fires can happen and made a daily assessment of how much of a chance have been to one. Interesting. Some movie stars' houses were on normal roads as you and me. Others were high in the mountains, through gates, high walls and screened ominous "keep out" signs. I do not blame them, with all the crazy people in the world. All the posh shops were nice, but a shopping spree there was no question if we won the lottery and were rich like the Hilton family – a garment, the cost for a new car, house or even in the inner city by Beverly Hills. Wow. We drove all over, taking pictures, stopping at fast food places like In and Out Kreme burgers and Krispy Donuts. We also stopped in beautiful ethnic restaurants to eat Mexican, Thai and Indian cuisine. The Mexican restaurants, my favorites were the most authentic and were big parts.

We drove through the desert, go back to the east, saw Hoover Dam, which was immense. Due to the tragedy happened in New York, everyone was there at the edge, so that We were not allowed to stop on the bridge, just past park and go elsewhere. It was very scenic to the dam, built long ago with Art Deco influence to see the well-built bridge and buildings. It was incredibly hot but the heat was dry, not moist. We drank gallons of soft drinks and mineral water, so as not dehydrated . Keep The prospect of high mountains and large amounts of water pumped by this powerful dam was really fascinating for this Midwestern girl.

Our next state to visit was Utah, the land of bizarre rock formations and mountains. We saw only the southern part, but what we saw was breathtaking. Bright red rocks protrude from the soil, high mountains and an endless night sky full of stars. We parked on the side of the road and saw the sky for an hour, deep in the desolate parts of the mountains. Without the city lights (or other civilization, for that matter), we could see everything including the Milky Way. It was beautiful and surreal at the same time. Utah is loaded with natural wonders and picturesque.

Next we drove to Colorado. It was so picturesque drive up and down the mountain roads of this colorful and beautiful State. The entire state is a photographers dream, were especially with the colors of the aspen fall. The turning yellow, as it was now autumn, and the huge mountains around us, took me breath. It felt and looked like the Old West to me. We stopped at an old mining town, even got to eat Buffalo Burger (from, yes, real buffalo meat, which was good). Had we more time I spent a week there would have, but my ex had to get back to his job, had so little time.

Just east of Denver, has everything amazingly flat. Plains are bleak and the search for traces of life on the edge of the highway were few and far between. If we saw a gas station, we would stop him, for who knew how long it would take to come to the next. The people there were very friendly. We stayed in a lovely old fashioned hotel, and ate in the Family restaurant next door. True Americana at its best.

We saw hills again in parts of Iowa, which we were not in for long. Next was Illinois, where we ended in Chicago. After many times in my past, we stopped at places I liked how water tower place, the theater and the art museum downtown. There is much to do and seen in this stunning city, just do it in summer because the winters are cold and brutal. Chicago is a great city with a long horizon, as you past it . Go Much larger than my hometown of Cleveland.

Late at night we arrived at my house in the suburbs of Cleveland. The trip was a success, even if it is overshadowed by a tragedy, we made the best of the situation. It has come to our home one week after, and one day I plan to do it again, but this time with more time on my hands. If you want to see what America is really like to rent a car (do not you try your own, through hard work, and wear tear down this kind of travel, a car) and plan to see places before you go. We took this trip without planning and it was still a success. We would be beautiful by State Park, drive past beautiful scenery and met some wonderful people. The next time I do, I get a triptych for AAA and they plan more of the off-the-beaten-path Places to see like the Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park and the Napa Valley.
