A violin technical question?

I don’t play the violin, but I was watching a video clip of a violin virtuoso. It looks like she used different fingering to play the same note that repeats a number of times in a row.

Okay. so . going higher up on the fingerboard (the long black thingie) makes a more muffled voice. You can use different fingerings and different positionings on the fingerboard to play the same note according to what the piece calls for. For example, if a passage of a piece is supposed to be particularly passionate and sorrowful, going up the fingerboard for lower notes would be a good way to produce that kind of sound. pieces like Ravel’s Tzigane, Sarasate’s Zigeurneweisen and Saint Saen’s 3rd violin concerto utilize fingering that are ridiculously high on the lower strings
