Sweep Rowing Techniques

I need some help rowing sweep?

I’ve just started my second year of rowing and I’m having a bit of trouble tapping down at the finish when i row sweep. My coach keeps telling me to keep accelerating, row into my chest, then tap down, but whenever I do this I can’t seem to tap down. I sort of have to shy off a bit at the finish. What should I do to improve my technique?

You could be rowing to far into your chest or have too much layback. Keep your hands relaxed; hang on your oar, don’t grip it. Think of taking the pause out of the finsh; should be a continuous motion. Good Luck!
